How We Work

Our Process

STEP
#1

The Video

Watch this short explainer video to get the gist of how the schema works.
If it gives you enough ideas to move forward on your own, and to strengthen your economy while accelerating the energy transition, you do not need to pay us anything, it is free to use. You’re welcome.

Even with the usual pitfalls, we hope it works well for you, and we wish you every success.

If you need more than this, continue to Step #2.

STEP
#2

The Preprint

Read the publicly available preprint published on Zenodo.
https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17288906

It should give you more detail and practical input on how to move forward. If it gives you enough ideas to proceed on your own, and to strengthen your economy while accelerating the energy transition, you do not need to pay us anything. It is FREE to use.
You’re welcome.

If you need more support, proceed to the next Step #3.

The Call & Book

We will schedule a short introductory Zoom or Teams call to discuss next steps and what we offer.

We do this with every client that wants to continue with us. During the call (about 1 hour), you will receive clear guidance on the remaining steps.

During the call, we will point you to the book for additional detail and practical guidance beyond the scope of the session.

If you would like to explore further now, read the remaining step briefs below, and then proceed to schedule a meeting.

The Case Study

We will conduct a comprehensive analysis and develop a tailored solution for your specific context. At this stage, we agree a formal point of contact on your side (a designated representative) who will coordinate timely access to the data we request. This information is essential to build a reliable baseline of the country’s current energy, infrastructure, and economic position, and to produce a clear set of practical recommendations to support measurable national progress.

This is an advisory engagement. If you choose to proceed independently after this step, you pay only for the consulting work and the final advisory report. The cost depends on your specific case.

Typical duration: 1 to 6 months, depending on data availability, responsiveness, and timely completion of payments.

The On-site Works

In the final step, Why Five acts as your orchestration and delivery partner. We coordinate stakeholders, monitor progress, and provide continuous advisory support, working in close cooperation with your designated programme lead to ensure agreed actions are executed and issues are resolved quickly.

We agree a baseline, targets, and a measurement approach at the outset. Our commercial model is performance-aligned: an upfront mobilisation fee, followed by subscription-based payments per deployment unit (seed), plus a success component linked to independently verifiable outcomes. The scope, cost, and expected impact depend on your specific case and regional circumstances.

In practice, we operate a programme command centre that turns plans into delivery. We manage data collection and reporting, coordinate procurement and logistics, orchestrate the network between suppliers and seeds, and oversee rollout sequencing. We support engineering planning for infrastructure work, monitor operations and maintenance, and provide training and knowledge transfer so local capability grows during delivery. Where required, we also support governance, contracting, compliance, and risk management through the programme lifecycle.

We believe long-term success depends on strengthening local communities. Where agreed, we commit a defined portion of our profits to reinvestment in local priorities such as SMEs, infrastructure, education, and healthcare; because stronger communities create stronger economies, and stronger economies create lasting progress.

Advisory Services

Strategic Energy Consulting

Beyond development and construction, our consulting arm helps organizations navigate the complexities of the energy transition.

Consulting

Strategic guidance on RRETS adoption and broader economic priorities, helping you identify high-impact sectors, policy levers, and complementary capabilities to develop over time.

Data Collection and Baseline Analysis

We work with your ministries, utilities, and national statistics authorities to gather and validate the full dataset needed, then produce a clear baseline of your current energy, infrastructure, and economic position.

Energy Audits

Comprehensive analysis of current energy consumption and losses across sectors, with practical recommendations for efficiency and optimisation.

Design

A blueprint for what to build and in what sequence: required capacity, technology mix, grid and storage needs, workforce and supply-chain requirements, and the supporting industries needed for long-term resilience.

Feasibility Studies

Detailed technical and financial assessments to confirm viability, risks, timelines, and expected returns for specific renewable energy programmes and sites.

Project Finance

We structure delivery finance around your existing resources, minimising loans and keeping the model economically sustainable.

Implementation Support

On-the-ground support during rollout, including partner coordination, issue resolution, and practical lessons learned to keep delivery on track and reduce costly delays.

Orchestration

A software-led command centre to coordinate planning, procurement, logistics, progress tracking, payments and accounting oversight, supplier performance, and continuous operational improvement.
